Taiwan masheer, scientific name "Spinibarbus hollandi," is the most common species for fly and lure fishing in Taiwan. The average size is 16inches and can be up to 27 inches(70cms). They could be fished by lures or flies. They are omnivore and genetically closer to carp, creating various behaviors in different area, so they might be aggressively chasing a popper or be spooky and pick only the right flies with right presentation. They could be found in most of rivers except northern Taiwan(Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Keelung).
The main fishing seasons starts from late March until late October.
